It's August, and that means it's time for my NFL Preview! I'll be talking about my picks for the upcoming year in the NFL, and Michael Phelps. It's all here in my 3rd post! It's also the first post under the name, What's Brewing?
Michael Phelps is now an American hero after his INCREDIBLE performance at the Water Cube. 8 gold medals is just absolutely ridiculous. It's amazing if someone wins 3 or 4 gold medals, but 8!? That's just amazing. As of today, Michael has more gold medals then 64 countries have total from these Olympics (if I counted right). He has more gold medals than every country has recieved in these games except for 7 (not including the US). It's mind-boggling how amazing he is. Congratulations, Michael.
Now, onto my NFL preview; I'll be splitting it up into 8 posts until September 1st at the latest. That means 8 separate blog posts. I'll go in this order with both conferences: East, North, South, West. AFC is first. So here we go, the AFC East:
1) New England Patriots: The team that blew it last year in the Super Bowl won't have that opportunity this year. Expect them to dominate the division, with Brady, Moss, Welker, and Maroney. Harrison and Lynch may be getting old, but they're still two of the best safeties in the game. Holes at cornerback and defending the pass rush on the O-line won't make them Super Bowl XLIII winners this year.
2) New York Jets: Brett Favre was a huge acquisition for this team, and it will improve them, but not enough to make the playoffs. I see them contending for the playoffs, but towards the end of the season, the Jets playoff hopes will be gone in a New York minute.
3) Buffalo Bills: The Bills are my sleeper team. Trent Edwards definitely has potential, and with big WR James Hardy and Lee Evans (a Wisconsin grad!), along with RB Marshawn Lynch and a good defense, this team definitely has potential to be in the playoffs this year.
4) Miami Dolphins: Expectations for this team are low in Miami after their 1-15 season, the first since 2000's San Diego Chargers. Chad Pennington is the new starter at QB, while John Beck may be the odd man out in Miami. Look for Pennington to make this team at least 2 or 3 wins better, but don't expect playoffs from the Dolphins for a few years.
That's all for Part 1 of my 2008 NFL Preview. See ya tomorrow!
